DESIRE LINES
Saranac Art Projects, Spokane, WA
February 2 - 28, 2017

Desire can be visualized through marks or scars and can be felt and seen in nature, the body, and historical ideologies. How we relate to and converse with these structures can reveal, deepen, mend or hide those marks and scars. Desire Lines features the work of Washington artists Nicole Pietrantoni, Stasia Burrington, Remelisa Cullitan, and Juventino Aranda. These four artists while diverse in process and concept all deal with the re-contextualization and critique of social constructs. In our current political state, the voice of the artist is more necessary than ever to challenge the structures and systems trying to suppress dialogue around human dignity, climate change, sexuality, gender and cultural identity.

Desire Lines at the Saranac Art Projects was created in partnership with Saturate, a city wide collaboration celebrating diverse artists of color in Spokane, WA.
